Neighbourhood committee is a grass roots mass organization in China.  In Chinese residential areas, both in cities and towns, there are neighbourhood committees.

Era of Disunity--Three Kingdoms

The collapse of the Han dynasty was followed by nearly four centraries rule by warloads.  The age of civil war and disunity began with the era of three kingdoms(Wei, Shu and Wu, which had overlapping reighs during the period of A.D.220-80). In later times, fiction and drama greatly romanticized the  reputed chivalry of this period.

Jin

Unity was restored briefly in the early years of the Jin dynasty(A.D.265-A.D.420), but the Jin could not long contain the invasions of the nomadic peoples. In A.D 317 the Jin court was forced to flee from Luoyang and reestablished itself in Nanjing to the South. The transfer of the capital coincided with China's fragmentation into a succession of danysties that was to last from A.D. 304 to 589.

More than 30,000 years ago, Chinese ancestors invented the 10 Tian Gan(or 10 heavenly stems) and 12 Di Zhi(or 12 earthly branches) for chronological purpose. Later, people used 12 animals to symbolize the 12 earthly branches in order to make things easier to memorize and the animals in order are mouse, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

You might found out that many Chinese people strongly believe that the time of a person's birth is primary factor in determining that person's characteristics. According to a legend, Buddha invited all the animals to his kindom, but unfortunately, only a total of 12 turned up. The mouse was naturally the first, followed by the ox, then the tiger, the rabbit and so on. Out of gratitude, Buddha decided to name the year after each of the animals in their order of arrival. It is essential in China that every person knows which animal sign he is born under and the most of Chinese truely believe that the signs reveal the hidden secrets of a person's character.


你可能会发现中国人特别相信出生年月是决定性格特征的主要因素。根据传说，佛曾邀请所有动物来他的国土上聚会，但遗憾的是，只有12个动物来了，老鼠自然是第一位，接下来是牛、然后是虎，后来是兔子等等。出于感激，佛决定按动物们到的先后次序命名年份。在中国每个人都知道自己的属相是最基本的事，而且大多数的中国人确信属相可以揭示人的性格秘密。

Sui Dynasty
隋朝

China was reunified in A.D.589 by the short-lived Sui dynasty(A.D581-A.D.617), which has often been compared to the earlier Qin dynasty in the ruthlessness of its acomplishments.


公元589年-隋朝，中国再次统一了。隋朝（公元581-617）的统治时间很短，人们因它残暴的统治而常常把它比作是早期的秦朝。
