頂頭上司大衛奸詐狡猾，經常把屬下的優良成果，據為己有。同事們好像暗地裡稱他為「wise guy」（聰明的傢伙）。我深不以為然。因為比起上任的上司，他幾乎是蠢透了。

有一次，我與他閒談時，無意間說道：「同事們都說你是 wise guy...」沒想到，頓時，他臉色鐵青，居然拂袖而去……。

後來我才知道，wise guy是指自認為聰明而喜歡炫耀的「蠢」蛋，與wise man（聰明人）的意義大不相同。

One my of my students was in Canada for a visit before she came to our college. She stayed with her relatives. One day the family had some guests. One of the guest asked,"Where is John?" My student thought he was looking for her cousin John and told him'"John is in his bedroom." But all the people there laughed. Later my student was told the guest was asking where the toilet was.
