Well, it depends where and how you are going to apply it.

By meaning, “缘分" is lot or luck by which people or things are brought together.

If you use it in people, for example, “你的女友和你又在一起了, 真是有缘分", “your girl and you are together again. It must be fate. Here we use “fate” as “缘分”.

Or “烟, 酒和我没有缘分", “smoking and drinking don’t appeal to me”. “Appeal to me” used as "缘分" between things and you… In your case, I think you are referring it as “fate”, aren’t you?

(1) On July 4th I met my soul mate and my best friend and my heart desire. After a day of weird circumstances fate guided me to the love of my life…[em02]
