我们是中国的一家拥有8万注册会员的乙肝协带者民间公益网站，对于贵刊将中国TCL集团有限公司董事长兼总裁李东生评为“2004年全球最具影响力的25名商界领袖”之一，我们表示强烈抗议！
李东生所领导的中国TCL集团在劳动用工方面存在有严重的歧视乙肝携带者现象，该集团曾公开声称招录职工拒绝肝炎者，严重侵害了乙肝携带者的天赋劳动权，严重伤害了中国1.2亿乙肝携带者的感情。因而该公司的产品和服务正在遭到中国众多乙肝携带者的集体抵制。
TCL集团的上述歧视性做法同时也违反了国际社会公认的社会责任标准，在SA8000社会责任国际标准（SA8000——Social Accountability 8000 International Standard）中就明确规定：公司不得从事或支持歧视。
然而，对于这样一个侵犯人的平等权利、破坏国际公认社会责任标准的典型，贵刊却在2004年12月16日将其领导人评为“全球商界领袖”，这无异于对侵害人权行为的褒奖，无异于对人类普遍价值观的践踏。
贵刊的这一决定是对正在追求平等权利的中国1.2亿乙肝携带者的严重伤害！
同时，这一决定也使贵刊的荣誉因此而蒙羞！
针对传染病病原携带者的排斥和歧视——包括对艾滋和乙肝等的歧视——是人类所共同面对的全球性社会问题，由于中国的乙肝携带者人群有1.2亿之多，因而这一现象在中国的乙肝歧视问题上表现得更为集中，其影响之广泛远远超过了艾滋病。现在，中国的乙肝携带者们正在发起一场“反歧视”运动来力求尽快消除压在自己身上的这种不公正待遇，争取平等的劳动权、受教育权和隐私权等神圣的公民权利。这一运动得到了政府、媒体和有识之士的普遍支持，体现了中国社会的进步；同时这场运动也无疑是人类追求文明进步的伟大交响中的一个壮丽乐章。
作为一家有着全球声誉的媒体，希望贵刊在面对这一平等与歧视、文明与蒙昧的对立时，不要错误地站在歧视者的一方，不要成为蒙昧者的同盟。
希望贵刊尽快查清事实，迅速更正错误，取消中国TCL集团领导人李东生所获荣誉。

Protest to TIME magazine from Chinese Hepatitis Carriers Non-profit website

Dear Sir or Madam:

This letter is on behalf of 80 thousand registered members of the largest Chinese Hepatitis Carriers Non-profit Website in China. We are strongly protesting against Li, Dongsheng, who was elected in the "2004 Global Business Influential" and the board chairman and president of TCL, hurt 120 million Hepatitis B Carriers of China struggling for equal human rights.
TCL discriminates Hepatitis B Carriers by rejecting them in their employment policy standard without any scientific evidences. This practice deprives Hepatitis B Carriers' the rights to work, but moreover, harms them on a much serious personal level so that many of Chinese are boycotting the products and services of TCL. TCL's behavior broke SA8000 (Social Accountability 8000 International Standard) where there is an article stating that companies may not engage or support discrimination based on race, sex, or disability and so on.
Your website,<a href="http://www.time.com/" target="_blank" ><FONT color=#000000>www.time.com</FONT></A>, too mentions that a business should be helping and changing their society through their influence on it. TCL encourages prejudice in our society instead of equality. We feel that Li, Dongsheng has ignored the basic human equal opportunity work rights and should not be on one of the Global Business Influential. Praising TCL resembles telling your readers that TCL's violation of human rights is acceptable.
Exclusion and discrimination for those infected by HIV and HBV are problems that need to be addressed. There are 120 million carriers of HBV in China attempting to end discrimination against them in China by initiating anti-discrimination campaigns or by educating people about the disease; they hope that this will eliminate their current treatment of unjust work, education, and privacy rights. The government, mass media, and many people are currently supporting this campaign and such effort is an improvement of Chinese society.
We have faith that TIME will not stand by TCL, which tolerates the discrimination of many people in the job market of China and not have him as one of the Global Business influential.
