APASL General Information
AASLD in association with the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) will hold a one-day workshop on December 14, 2004 during the biennial meeting of the APASL to be held in New Delhi, India, December 11 - 15, 2004.
The theme of the workshop will be "Epidemiology and Natural History of Liver Disease in Asia" with a focus on hepatitis B and hepatocellular carcinoma. The primary purpose of the workshop is to provide a basic instruction of research methodologies for fellows and junior faculty from countries in the Asia Pacific region. Didactic lectures covering the basic concepts of research in epidemiology and natural history and poster sessions will allow direct interactions between participants and experienced AASLD-APASL faculty.
Participants will be selected based on the quality of abstracts which will be presented as posters.
Applicants must:
Be a fellow in training in gastroenterology and hepatology with an interest in liver disease or junior faculty less than 40 years of age (lecturer/assistant professor)
Be a resident of a country in the Asia Pacific region
Have a letter of recommendation from head of department granting leave to travel and participate in the workshop and certifying ability to present in English. The workshop is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. |
