Did you guys see the pattern in the poetry? I can't remember the technical name for it but it's like, "iambic - something" :-P Anyhooz, if you count the syllables in each line you'll notice a pattern.
See, for the first line in "ain has the element of blank"
"ain—has an Element of Blank—"
That's 8 syllables.
Pain-1
has-1
an-1
Element-3
of-1
Blank-1
That makes 8....
and in the next line has 6:
"It cannot recollect"
It-1
cannot-2
recollect-3
Basically, the pattern is 8,6,8,6...throughout that poem...and it's the same in "My life closed twice before its close..."
^_^
Emily Dickinson was one smart cookie. Think about writing a poem and being perfectly aware that their was a pattern like that...I mean- that takes a lot of work, ya know?
Yeah...she died a lonngggg time ago and lived a loooonngggg time ago. We think she might have been agoraphobic because of her journal entries....because she was so afraid of going outside and everything. She never even meant to have any of her poems published, but her relatives found over 6,000 of them in her drawers after she died.
She only wore white linen- of course that isn't a proven fact- but that's what everyone saw her in...
She tried to go to college...but she couldn't handle it because she missed her family so much. Her dad was pretty smart and teached her a lot- she LOVED mythology and could read Greek and Latin...always reading...
Yeahhh...that's just some info I found- Ummm...there's more...but yeahhh- I am tired and I need to clean my room.
Adios,
Butterfly
