here is the first paragraph.

mu-lan ci

tsiek tsiek and again tsiek tsiek
mu-lan, facing the door, weaves
hear not the filature''s sound
hear only the girl''s sighs
what is in your heart?
who is on your mind?
nothing is in my heart
no one is on my mind
it''s about a draft poster i saw last night
the kehan is calling the great army
on the twelve mobilization rolls
every roll has my father''s name on
father has no grown-up son
mu-lan has no elder brother
so i would like to buy a saddled horse
taking my father''s place to serve in the army.

for buying only a hourse, a saddle, a bridle and a scourge,
Mu-lan finally has chance to surround the whole city!
leaves farther and mother at dawn,
camp on the yellow river's bank at night,
need not hear father and mother's garrulity,
she hear only the Yellow River flowing water's cry tsian tsian.
leaves Yellow River at dawn,
arrives at Black Mountain at night.
need not hear father and mother's garrulity,
she hear only Hu courser cry tsiu tsiu.
