in common? The answer is a Hep C infection. So all of them will be
interested in the results of Biotron's latest clinical trial. Performed
in Thailand, the phase 2a trial of its drug BIT225 with conventional
treatment showed that 87 per cent of those who used the drug had
undetectable levels of the virus in their blood after three months. That
is a significant advance on conventional anti-viral treatment alone and
holds out hopes that a new combination treatment could one day
completely rid the body of hep C. Chief executive Biotron CEO Dr
Michelle Miller said the results were "extremely encouraging" and were
particularly good for patients with the most common genotype 1 variation
of the disease, which is the most difficult to treat.
