Subject: Question from a HBV carrier in China
Dear Sir / Madam, I am HBV carrier in China. I applied for a position in Nokia Beijing. Before I read the news that a HBV carrier was refused by Nokia Dongguan in Southern part of China, I thought Nokia to be a MNC with strong sense of responsibility to the society and people, and would not hold that discrimination to our HBV carriers. However, the news really makes me worry about my application to Nokia Beijing. I am keenly wondering if I could pass all the interviews and get the offer eventually, would I be refused by Nokia Beijing for the same reason as the HBV carrier in Dongguan? If it is, I will cease my application as it would be a waste of time. And maybe in the future, I would not buy any Nokia products as I would be really hurt for this case. There are over 1.2 million HBV carriers in China. They are enduring great discrimination in their job hunting. The entrance medical check prevent many outstanding HBV carriers from being hired. Relevant medical check regarding HBV has been cancelled in many countries, as far as I know at least in US, Canada, Japan and Korea. I am not very clear about the situation in Finland, do you have such check specially against HBV? Dear sir or madam, I am looking foward for your comments in this regard, very sincerely.
