Attended couple sections of basic training and dives. Never went back again because of the time consumed and equipments involved (they were not cheap and even rentals cost you a fortune)

An instructor accompanied the first and second dives at the coast of ocean and that was ok. The third time was alone that made me nerves, as I had to keep focus on the watch and dive (one needs to be out of the water in certain time period).

Books around $46.00. Mask and other personal equipment, if need to be purchased, cost $130.00 to 250.00(something you need to buy and there is no rental due to health reasons). Rental, any four major items are about $30 for the first day, 15 for the second, and 5-6 each additional day.  Prior to diving course, you need to be pre-certified in the regular swimming pool, which is not part of scuba diving training.
However, the scuba diving training course includes diving from a local beach, certification fees, and use of tank, BC (buoyancy compensator), wetsuit, regulator, and weight belt. You will need to purchase a few things like books, mask, fins, snorkel, boots, gloves, and a cold-water hood. Cost: $230. The (optional) class boat fees average between $45-90 per day.  You can complete scuba training in as few as four days. The schedule includes:  one day of classroom scuba instruction, one day of pool diving, two days of ocean diving This is only the basic certification of being able to dive in open water. If you need to further dive trainings, like deep-water dive, night dive, underwater video shooting dive, advanced open water dive, you need to pursuit  further classes and investments.

Go shopping around and at off-season(not in the summer), you may get a bargain. Or you can try to experience the Skydiving first during the summer TOGETHER WITH an instructor just for pleasure. They even shoot video or photos when you are up there.
