俺老哥的英语散文诗两篇

雨过残花

俺老哥最近在冰天雪地的东北学习，新近寄来英语散文诗两篇，俺感觉写的比他的中文好。希望他身体健康，吃拉米不要变异，学业进步，事业顺畅。

Old trees

I see these old trees everyday,

They are tall and challenge to the sky.

Their barks are full of wrinkles and tough to my hand.

Their roots are tortuous and serpentine on the soil.

Their fallen leaves scattered around the ground,

Not a single one on the bough.

Boreal wind is torturing the barren trees,

And everyone heard the footsteps of winter.

There are deserted nests on top of the trees,

And they tell us the sweet melody of warm spring.

No one knows how old these trees are,

But they have been home to birthing birds for many and many a year.

Old trees are waiting for snow,

That is the only water they can get.

When the snow melts and leaves grow again,

The birds will be back and make nest again.

New life will appear after the chilling wind.

Lake

Silent night,

Silent lake.

The moon shines on its quiet face,

The breeze ripples its surface.

Silently I walked along the lake.

A path comes into my eyes,

It is along this path that we first met.

I touch the trees,

It is under these trees that we fell in love with each other.

The path is covered with foliage,

For the trees have lost their leaves,

But where are you, my darling, you have still not returned.

Do you still remember what we said while we walked along this path?

Do you still read my poems, which were written only for you?

Every time the moon shines on the lake I think of you,

Every time the breeze ripples the lake I murmur your name.

Silently I am here waiting for your return.

俺老哥和俺是两种类型的人，哥哥有着较高的语言天赋，极为崇尚英语语言文学，和老外混在一起如鱼得水，但对中国传统文化的了解却很贫乏，据我所知他长这么大，可能《红楼梦》完整的都没有看过一遍；相反俺却钟爱中国传统文化，《红楼梦》是已故家父毕生最爱，俺在中学里就读了两遍，不过对外国文学甚是感冒，哥哥买的一些英文的古典诗歌、小说名著，俺都看不懂。当年就啃了两本原版名著《Pride and Prejudice》，《Sister Carrie》,基本上没看懂，一个后遗症却是再也不想看什么原版小说了。

俺和俺哥都出国接触过一些洋人，经历过那种在别人的国土说着别人的语言的生活，俺为自己来自中国上海的名校而在老美面前自豪，老哥为在克林顿曾任州长的Little Rock亲眼见到《Gone with the wind》片头中的场景而在我面前自得。

呵呵，萝卜青菜，各有所爱。

不过，窃以为洋人的诗和散文差不多。

英文原著，我也看不下去，不是说写得不好，而是因为没有经过西方文化的浸润，不能达到心领神会的境界，产生不了共鸣。
