Writing of the 2004 examination
Study the drawing carefully and write an essay in which you should:
1) describe the drawing,
2) interpret its meaning, and
3) support your view with examples.
You should write about 200 words.
It is showed on the map that an athlete, maybe in a track and field, first rushed to the end with a smile of a champion. On the very ground there are two arrowheads, and in each of both some Chinese characters, which means “the end” and “the beginning”, are written.
Obviously, the picture intends to tell us that the end is the beginning, and we shouldn’t lose ourselves in the victory or the success we gain in one phase of our life. The development of ourselves can’t be paused as well as of the nature and the society. Stop means death to a person, and extermination to the whole world. If you don’t realize the end is not the destination but a new beginning, your life will be very passive and can’t be lead by yourself, for you won’t find your own way to do your own business with your own will.
For example, it is maybe the first success that we students pass the entrance examination and are enrolled by the college, but we’d rather consider it as a new start than the end of our study. Four years will make great changes among the college students, and also great differences between two students of the same level when they first step into the college. A student considering it as a new start will study hard and become an excellent graduate, and a student on the contrary will be of nothing.
So it is can be concluded that in order to seize the destiny in our own hands tightly, we should remember that one end is a new beginning, and gather all of our strength and will to gain the successes one after another.
Writing of the 2003 examination
Study the drawing carefully and write an essay in which you should:
1) describe the set of drawings, interpret its meaning and
2) point out its implications in our life.
You should write about 200 words.
Here is two drawings: one shows that a flower underneath a greenhouse against the wind and the rain is in beautiful blossom, and the other gives us a tragic sight that without the guard of the glasshouse, the flower’s beauty is totally destroyed by the downpour and itself is threatened by the death.
The drawings indicate a truth that just as flowers growing in the greenhouse can’t bear the blow of the rain and the wind, children spoiled by their parents can’t face the difficulties in their life when they grow up. As parents, they should let their children undergo some necessary sufferings, and as ourselves, we should solve the problems with our own hands. Whenever we encounter obstacles, or even dangers, we can’t withdraw our strength but to overcome them with our strong will of success. At one time you do your own things like this, at another time you have the experience; and when you face great difficulties you never imagined, your successful experiences will give you the confidence which will help you pass those rough periods.
So don’t ask other people, say, your families or your friends for help if you can do it yourself until all of your attempts result in failures, for the flowers in the greenhouse must be destroyed in the harsh rainy day when they have to live by themselves.
