这两句出于聂鲁达诗选的英文，要看全文以及思考创作的背景。

我个人经验是这样的，诗句中的英文和一般白话英文的解释不完全一样。要看整首诗作以及前后文。事实上，很多英文句子的理解也必须是如此。

比如说“ i was without a face" 在某种情况下可以说是 shameless。
比如说“ my mouth had no way with names",也可以说是我说的话不算数。

但是在这首诗中，表达的意思就不是这样了。
在这首诗中，表现出一股惊惶失措或者震动或者迷惑，当这样的情况出现的时候，解释就不同了。

从前后文来看，你甚至可以把他解释为“我不知道该说什么，甚至语无伦次。。。”
这是我个人的理解。
