Incidence of development of hepatocellular carcinoma in Japanese patients infected with hepatitis B virus is equivalent between genotype B and C in long term
Journal of Viral Hepatitis — Haga H, et al. | April 26, 2019
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) incidence was compared between hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotypes B (HBV/B)- and C (HBV/C)-infected patients. Among 295 hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive carriers, researchers followed a Total of 241 patients. Genotypes of HBV were A in 1% (4/295), B in 61% (179/295), C in 37% (110/295) and D in 1% (2/295) patients, And 96% of HBV/B were infected with subgenotype Bj. HBV/B infected patients were diagnosed with HCC at significant higher mean age than HBV/C infected patients. Compared to patients with HBV/C infection, those with HBV/B had significant Higher rate of FIB-4 index. Higher rate of HCC was noted in HBV/C than in HBV/B, and a significant difference was observed until the 20-year observation period. However, an increase in HCC associated with HBV/ B was observed, and there was no significant difference between HBV/B and HBV/C.作者: StephenW 时间: 2019-4-27 15:44
