so this report tells us ETV is nothing special. but in china it is more expensive than lamivudine

Ditto, good to hear from you again. I hope you are well and prosperous too!

I cannot say that I disagree with your observation that ETV is "nothing special", but if you look at the data, in the ETV group, there is less therapy crossover (5.6% versus 12.2%), and takes longer (medium 88 months) time before change if change is needed. That means ETV is a more stable treatment option.
As for price comparison between ETV and Lam, I think Lam is a first generation drug whereas ETV can be considered third generation. Like your old pickup truck, it gets you from A to B just the same as a newer more expensive one.
