I just want to write something to practise my english, no mean to offense or mislead people.
First, what is organized crime? The textbook tells me:
Organized crime has been officially defined by police as "two or more persons consorting together on a continuing basis to participate in illegal activities, either directly or indirectly, for gain"; it has been defined by a former US organized crime boss as "just a bunch of people getting together to take all the money they can from all the suckers they can.
As what I know, they are not only interested on money, also girls, men, reputation...etc. I have read a book before, it says in Russia, 85% of the enterprises are controlled by organized crime. What a shocking number, it really scares me. In LA, 1200 gangs lives inside the city. It is not fair to say gangs are organized crimes, but they are very similar already, aren't they?
As to Canada, there are several big group, Mafia, Hell's Angels, the Outlaws, Satan's Choice, and the Grim Reapers. Their initiation rites have made it difficult for law enforcement officers to penetrate the groups, which have become major suppliers of illegal drugs. They have also been involved in prostitution and contract killing. I don't care their roles in drugs and prostitution, but contract killing really matters. As I am a chinese, I seldom have contact with those groups, but only with this:
Chinese youth gangs in Toronto and Vancouver are involved in protection rackets and extortion, but the more sophisticated groups are organized by senior "Triad" members from Hong Kong to import heroin from Southeast Asia through Vancouver. The Triads are ancient Chinese organizations that have evolved into organized-crime groupings.
Where can we find Triad in chinese community, I have experiences:
Massage related to Sex Service, illegal drug dealer, Casino--for money laundering, and some other industries they like very much: Construction, entertainment, logistics, security...
I am scared of organized crime and hope to stay away from them, unfortunately, they seem to like me
Bikie gangs are very big in drug trade in Australia. Triad gangs just prey on local Chinese. Since gambling and prostitution are legal here, not much left for the gangs except illegal drugs. 作者: hbv30year 时间: 2011-4-7 09:24
Australia is a lucky country. The country is quite isolated and most of the people have to use airline to leave the country. When crime is committed, the criminal has to use a fake passport to take the airplane, it is very hard.
For the country like usa or china, it is so easy to get out of the border. especially in china, 1.5 billion people, nearly impossible to dig out the crime if they are smart. 作者: StephenW 时间: 2011-4-7 09:44
Until we get a handle on dealing with illegal drugs, crime will flourish. Look at Mexico, it is open warfare with state against drug lords. In Australia, I believe, popping pills and getting drunk are the norm with the youths.
USA is a basket case, on the verge of economic collapse. China is rampant with corruptions.
Think, I will stay in bed, too depressing to get up. Cheers.
